MYSQL & CGI Scripts

1. How do I create a MySQL Database?
1) Log into your control panel and click 'MySQL Databases'.
2) Under the section "Databases", enter a database name and press "Add Db".
3) Under the section "Users", enter a username/password and press "Add User".
4) Under the section "Databases", select a user from the dropbox and then a database.
5) Assign privileges to the user and database, then press "Add User to Db".
6) You can now manage your database through the phpMyAdmin.

Important Note:
Make sure you are using the correct login/password and database name as listed on the mysql manager as they will not be exactly the same as the name you entered in when you created the database.

2. Is my MySQL database backed up daily?
MySQL databases are not backed up. It is highly recommended you keep a backup of your database on your local drive.

7. How do I use Server Side Includes?
Use the #include directive to include files into your current html document. The "file=" or "virtual=" elements can both be used. For example, let's say you were trying to include doc1.html into doc2.html. Both documents exist in a directory called "docdir" in your main htdocs area.

< !--#include file="doc1.html" -->
< !--#include virtual="/docdir/doc1.html" -->

Be sure to do the following to tell the server to interpret your server side includes: Give the file a filename that ends in ".shtml"

8. Where can I download CGI scripts?
A very good place to download PHP, Perl and other scripts is http://www.thecgisite.com.
